And what is your work life balance like nowadays?<\/strong><br data-start=\"472\" data-end=\"475\" \/><strong data-start=\"475\" data-end=\"481\">A:<\/strong> In my free time I enjoy watching telenovelas and going out with friends on weekends, though right now Florida feels unusually cold. At work we enforce a strict 9 AM to 5 PM schedule. After 5 PM no one is expected to deal with work tasks. We do not do forced social events or unpaid work outside office hours. I set this policy because I have had past experiences with companies that demanded unreasonable time commitments which took away from personal life.<\/p><hr data-start=\"979\" data-end=\"982\" \/><p data-start=\"984\" data-end=\"1454\"><strong data-start=\"984\" data-end=\"1088\">Q: Why did you emphasize that your company is \u201call male\u201d rather than talking about its achievements?<\/strong><br data-start=\"1088\" data-end=\"1091\" \/><strong data-start=\"1091\" data-end=\"1097\">A:<\/strong> The phrasing of the AMA title was chosen to reflect how Reddit likes to frame topics and to spark honest discussion about working in a male-dominated industry. It wasn\u2019t meant to detract from the company\u2019s achievements. Originally other title formats were considered, but this one felt more engaging for the community.<\/p><hr data-start=\"1456\" data-end=\"1459\" \/><p data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"2005\"><strong data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1544\">Q: What is your personal background and how did you get to where you are today?<\/strong><br data-start=\"1544\" data-end=\"1547\" \/><strong data-start=\"1547\" data-end=\"1553\">A:<\/strong> I\u2019m originally from Cuba and came to the United States when I was 10. I studied at a local university. My career began as a marketing consultant at Freeman where I worked closely with the CEO. Over more than 10 years I worked my way up, proving myself. About 6 or 7 years ago I was appointed to lead Freeman Construction. My ambition, desire to grow, and the professional relationships I built helped me get here.<\/p><hr data-start=\"2007\" data-end=\"2010\" \/><p data-start=\"2012\" data-end=\"2459\"><strong data-start=\"2012\" data-end=\"2094\">Q: With you being the CEO do you consider hiring more women into your company?<\/strong><br data-start=\"2094\" data-end=\"2097\" \/><strong data-start=\"2097\" data-end=\"2103\">A:<\/strong> Absolutely. My executive assistant and other key roles including architects are filled by women. They are there because they are the most skilled and the best fit for the job. Their gender does not determine their placement; excellence does. You can see some of the women on the team if you visit the company website.<\/p><hr data-start=\"2461\" data-end=\"2464\" \/><p data-start=\"2466\" data-end=\"2904\"><strong data-start=\"2466\" data-end=\"2551\">Q: In dealing with clients and projects what are the priorities for your company?<\/strong><br data-start=\"2551\" data-end=\"2554\" \/><strong data-start=\"2554\" data-end=\"2560\">A:<\/strong> <em data-start=\"2561\" data-end=\"2647\">The AMA included a detailed reply about how we handle leads and client expectations.<\/em> For example, we prioritize quick response times on leads \u2014 answering within minutes if possible \u2014 and we do not use AI or automated replies. Being timely, on budget, and stress free for clients is core to our approach.<\/p><hr data-start=\"2906\" data-end=\"2909\" \/><p data-start=\"2911\" data-end=\"3443\"><strong data-start=\"2911\" data-end=\"3021\">Q: What important lessons have you learned from being CEO and how do you handle stress and responsibility?<\/strong><br data-start=\"3021\" data-end=\"3024\" \/><strong data-start=\"3024\" data-end=\"3030\">A:<\/strong> One of the biggest lessons has been learning to respect and value every member of the team and to delegate properly. Part of being a leader is trusting that your team will do their best without micromanagement. You also must learn not to set unrealistic expectations. Every contractor has their own work style so building synergy among many strong-willed individuals is key.<\/p><hr data-start=\"3445\" data-end=\"3448\" \/><p data-start=\"3450\" data-end=\"3726\"><strong data-start=\"3450\" data-end=\"3534\">Q: Do people ever mistake you for someone else based on your name or appearance?<\/strong><br data-start=\"3534\" data-end=\"3537\" \/><strong data-start=\"3537\" data-end=\"3543\">A:<\/strong> One person asked if she often gets mistaken for being female, to which she playfully responded that she didn\u2019t feel the need to answer that one.<\/p><hr data-start=\"3728\" data-end=\"3731\" \/><p data-start=\"3733\" data-end=\"3979\"><strong data-start=\"3733\" data-end=\"3788\">Q: What role does your husband play in the company?<\/strong><br data-start=\"3788\" data-end=\"3791\" \/><strong data-start=\"3791\" data-end=\"3797\">A:<\/strong> My husband is his own person. He runs a different company entirely.
